About Ruth Poniarski
Ruth M. Poniarski began painting in 1988 after completing a
degree in architecture in 1981 at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY.
She worked as an architect in New York City and has studied
abroad in Europe and the Middle East. Her paintings draw
from a wealth of sources, including cultural references, myths,
art history and the contemporary world.
She has been shown in many museums and galleries,
including the Parrish in Southampton, NY, the Butler Institute of
American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, the Holter Museum in
Helena, Montana, the Trevi Flash Art Museum in Trevi, Italy, the
Gora Gallery in Montreal, Canada and a solo show at the
Karpeles Museum in Newburgh, NY, as well as other locations.
Her paintings are in public and private collections in Maryland,
New Jersey, New York City, Long Island and Switzerland.
She was also inducted into the National Association of
Women Artists in November of 2006. This prestigious
organization includes such important artists as Louise
Nevelson, Alice Neel and Mary Cassatt.
